Quincy Jones re-recording We Are The World
Over 75 artists have re-recorded the 1985 charity song "We Are The World" in the same Hollywood recording studio where the original was cut 25 years ago. Among the stars were Pink, Celine Dion, Natalie Cole, the Jonas Brothers, Kanye West, Tony Bennett, Jennifer Hudson, Akon and others. Quincy Jones, who produced the 1985 anthem, announced last week that he planned to re-record the song to benefit recovery from the deadly January 12 earthquake in Port-au-Prince. The original version of "We Are The World" was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. The record raised more than $30 million for USA for Africa.

Mary J. Blige covers Stairway To Heaven
Mary J. Blige is recording the track "Stairway To Heaven" with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, Michael Jackson's former touring guitarist Orianthi, Steve Vai and American Idol judge Randy Jackson is playing bass. Blige is no stranger to covering classic rock songs. Earlier she did Simon and Garfunkel's “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and U2’s “One.”

New Jack Johnson album recorded eco-friendly
Jack Johnson is working on his new album. The singer/songwriter has retreated in his eco-friendly recording studio on the Hawaiian island of Oahu for the last six months. The album is Johnson's sixth full-length album and is being recorded entirely with solar energy. A June release date is expected for the new effort.

Mariah Carey remix album set for March
After being pushed back from February, Mariah Carey has confirmed that her upcoming remix album
"Angels Advocate" is now scheduled for a March 30 release date. Mariah Carey released two songs this week off the new CD: a duet of "Angel Cry" with Ne-Yo and "Up Out Of My Face" featuring Nicki Minaj.
"Angels Advocate" is Carey’s 13th studio album and will feature all new remixes and duets of songs from her 2009 release "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel."

New Blink-182 album set for early 2011
According to Travis Barker, the upcoming new Blink-182 is set for 2011 or anytime sooner. The band is ready to start working on the new effort. After solo projects by band memebers are finished they will start on the record. Blink-182 will also do some touring in Europe this summer.

Jennifer Hudson working on new album and film
With both a Grammy and an Oscar under her belt Jennifer Hudson is ready to get busy working on some more projects, including a new album and movie. Hudson is recording a new album right now and is also preparing for a next film, which is about Winnie Mandela. At the Grammy’s she performed "Earth Song" with Usher, Celine Dion, Smokey Robinson and Carrie Underwood for the Michael Jackson tribute.

Dru Hill reunites
After eight years, R&B group Dru Hill has reunited. Band members Sisqo, Nokio, Jazz and new member Tao are back and will release their fourth CD on April 13. The new effort will be titled “InDRUpendence Day” and firt single off the album is the track "Love M.D," which is a mid-tempo ballad. The new album is a soulful blend of R&B, rock, hip-hop and romance. In 2001 the group disbanded so that members could pursue solo careers. Dru Hill group member Sisqo went on to achieve international success with his debut album “Unleash The Dragon,” which included the hit "Thong Song."

Roberta Flack covering Beatles songs
Soul legend Roberta Flack is working on a Beatles album, which will be out on the April 21. Flack is set to redo about 14 Beatles songs and has already finished about eight. Included are “Here, There And Everywhere,” “Here Comes the Sun,” “Come Together,” “'Eleanor Rigby,” “'Let It Be” and “Hey Jude.” Roberta Flack used to live in the same building as John Lennon and Yoko Ono and has a long history with these songs.
