Robbie Williams working
on new album
After two years of silence, Robbie Williams is working on a new album again. In
January Williams said not to make any new music for EMI anymore, because of
dissatisfaction with the new management. However, according to his manager,
Robbie has now changed his mind and has started work on a new album that should
be out somewhere next year. The singer has finished some new tracks already.
Lil' Wayne working on new album and mixtape
Lil' Wayne is recording a new album, "Tha Carter IV," after having released "Tha
Carter III” just last May. The artist is in the studio working on a new album as
well as a new mixtape. Mixtape "Dedication 3" will be out soon. According to
Wayne, immediately after "Dedication 3" is officially released it will be
re-released with 20 extra songs for free on his Web site. Meanwhile, "Tha Carter
III" is by far the best-selling album of 2008, having sold over 2.5 million
copies in the US. Lil' Wayne is also collaborating with T-Pain for a duet album,
titled "T-Wayne" that is set for release in 2009.
New Fall Out Boy album to include Debbie Harry and Lil'
Wayne
Fall Out Boy’s new album “Folie A Deux,” which is set for release this November,
will feature some high-profile guest appearances. The upcoming new effort will
feature Blondie singer Debbie Harry and rapper Lil' Wayne. Also, Pharrell
Williams has produced a track for the album. The album will be out November 3.
Cypress Hill working with Slash and Tom Morello on new
album
According to rapper Sen Dog, who just released his first solo album "Diary Of A
Mad Dog," Cypress Hill is preparing for a new album. It will be the follow-up to
2004's "Till Death Do Us Part." According to Sen Dog about 30 songs are done and
he described the album as hard-core hip-hop. The album will include writing and
production collaborations with Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello (on
the track "Rise Up") and Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda. Guns N' Roses/Velvet
Revolver guitarist Slash plays on the track "Front Line." Meanwhile, Sen Dog
will release the fourth album by his rap-rock group SX-10 on early 2009.
Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson preparing Quincy Jones
tribute album
Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson are recording a tribute album to legendary
producer Quincy Jones. The two last worked together when they attempted to
record the theme to the new James Bond film “Quantum Of Solace,” but Ronson
ended those sessions due to Winehouse's alleged erratic behaviour. Other artists
that are rumored to be included on the Quincy Jones project are Mariah Carey and
Usher.
Seal to release album with soul standards
Seal will release a new album on November 11 titled "Soul." As its name
indicates, the effort features the singer covering 11 vintage soul tracks with
production from David Foster. Among the tracks is Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna
Come," Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long" and Harold Melvin And The
Blue Notes' "If You Don't Know Me By Now." Other tracks include "It's A Man's
Man's Man's World" (James Brown), "Knock On Wood" (Eddie Floyd) and "Free" (Deniece
Williams).
D'Angelo working on new album
D'Angelo is promoting the spring 2009 release of his third album with new
single. "I Found My Smile Again," a remake of the track he originally recorded
for the 1996 "Space Jam" soundtrack. D'Angelo is currently working on his new
album in a Los Angeles studio, collaborating with Raphael Saadiq, ?uestlove and
Roy Hargrove, among others.
New Kanye West album pushed forward
Kanye West has announced that his upcoming new album "808s and Heartbreak" will
be released on November 25. It had originally been set for a December 16 release
date. Second single off the new effort will be the track "Heartless," while
first single "Love Lockdown" has sold 402,000 digital downloads in two weeks
already.
Coldplay to release EP in November
Coldplay will release an eight-track EP titled "Prospekt's March" in November.
The disc will include a new version of "Lost" featuring rapper Jay-Z. Six of the
eight tracks on the EP are new studio recordings, including "Glass Of Water,"
which the band has been performing live regularly already. Also included is the
Osaka Sun remix of "Lovers In Japan." Coldplay will embark on their north
American tour on October 20 in Ottawa, Ontario. Meanwhile, their latest album "Viva
La Vida" is the second-highest selling US. release of 2008, shipping 1.77
million copies. |
