New Beastie Boys album
set for May
Beastie Boys have set a release date for their new album “Hot Sauce Committee
Pt. 2.” The set will be out on May 3 in the US and May 2 in Europe. “Hot Sauce
Committee Pt. 2” will be the trio's eighth effort. One of the new tracks, “Too
Many Rappers” is available online. The track features guest vocals by Nas. The
album was originally planned for a 2009 release but was delayed after rapper
Adam Yauch underwent treatment for cancer.
Sergio Mendes celebrates 50th anniversary with new
songs
During a brief four-night tour in Los Angeles Sergio Mendes has
celebrated his 50 years in the record business and also unveiled two of the five
songs he has contributed to the animated film "Rio." One of those songs is "Mas
Que Nada," which he has re-recorded for the film, plus his version on the bossa
nova songs by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Baden Powell, Lennon-McCartney's "The
Fool on the Hill" and Bacharach-David's "The Look Of Love."
Kate Bush releasing album old reworked material
Kate Bush has re-recorded old material for release on a new album in May. The
singer is revisiting a selection of songs from her 1989 album “The Sensual
World” and 1993's “The Red Shoes.” The new album will be titled “Director's Cut”
and is set for a May 16 release date. Rather than completely re-recording the
old tracks, Bush has reworked elements of the songs with the aim of making the
album an audio 'director's cut' of her old material. A reworked single titled
“Deeper Understanding,” which was on 'The Sensual World,” will be released in
April. The album will be released digitally, on CD, on vinyl and in a case-bound
book.
Foo Fighters release covers album
Foor Fighters are set to release a covers album in honor of 2011's Record Store
Day. The album will be titled "Medium Rare" and features covers of songs such as
Pink Floyd's "Have A Cigar," Cream's "I Feel Free" and Paul McCartney and Wings'
"Band On The Run." "Medium Rare" will be released on April 16.
Ja Rule finishing new album before going to prison
Ja Rule has pleaded guilty to attempted weapon possession and has agreed to a
two-year prison term.
Police say they found a loaded gun in a rear door of his luxury sports car when
it was stopped for speeding after a July 2007 concert. On June 8 sentecing will
be done and in the meantime the rapper will be finishing worl on his new CD
"Renaissance Project". |
