26-10-00 Radio song identification service premieres in Chicago
A new interactive service called *CD (Star CD) will allow radio listeners to easily identify and buy music as it is being aired on the radio. Radio listeners can access the service by calling 847-444-SONG or by going online to www.starcd.com. When a user calls *CD, a voice response system prompts them to enter the radio station they are listening to, and immediately tells them the name of the song, the artist and the title of the CD. Callers can also hear samples from other songs on the same CD. *CD currently monitors songs playing on 16 Chicago area radio stations. *CD is currently continuing to expand its service nationally.

21-10-00 Click Radio new interactive webradio
Click Radio, an interactive program that runs on the computer's hard drive, looks to be the new way of radio.
It is currently in the beginning stages of being rolled out and it has nothing to do with streaming audio. Click is something you download for free right onto the hard drive of your computer, and after that, it works kind of like radio. However, where internet radio suffers from problems like high cost, buffering and fade out, for listening to Click Radio you don't have to be online to listen. Click makes it possible to users to customize their radio station to their exact tastes and preferences. The way it works is easy: users get a CD ROM disc. Next, listeners download the radio stations of their choice onto the hard drive of their computer. And it then works like a regular radio station, with the added the feature that the listener can actually skip songs they don't like or can make it so the songs they do like.

MusicMatch adds custom radio to Jukebox
MusicMatch, maker of jukebox software for storing and playing music, released an upgraded version of its product, including a custom internet radio tuner that should be a first step toward an online music subscription service. MusicMatch, which already includes a personalization option that suggests new music to users, will now use that technology to build playlists around user likes and dislikes. MusicMatch radio will not comply 100 percent with individual demand since the copyright act bars internet broadcasters from doing things like playing only certain bands or songs, out of concern that such a service would hurt CD sales.
